A previous post on this subject on 1 June 2024 noted that the Mayor of London had given consent for this development against the wishes of Richmond upon Thames Council. Local councillors had requested that consideration should be given to making an application for judicial review. The Council decided not to pursue that application.
The applicants for the development, Avanton Richmond Developments Ltd, are now said to be looking for a buyer. Given the car parking limitations placed on the Mayor’s consent, prospective buyers may be few. It is safe to assume that however this proceeds the site will remain derelict for the foreseeable future.
What if a similar scenario arose in relation to the Stag Brewery or the outcome of the Planning Inquiry starting on 5 November overruled the Council’s consent? At least there is a film studio in occupation, which could be expanded.
