Richmond Council has opened nominations for the 2025-26 Community Heroes Awards, inviting residents to shine a spotlight on the inspirational individuals, groups and businesses who volunteer their time to support others and strengthen the local community.
Councillor Nancy Baldwin, spokesperson for communities, equalities and the voluntary sector, said the annual awards, now in their eighth year, recognise people who go above and beyond for Richmond – “often quietly, without recognition, and always with generosity and commitment”.
Every winner is nominated by residents, ensuring the awards truly reflect the communities they serve.
“Whether it’s a neighbour, a volunteer, a community group or a local business, we all know someone who makes a difference. These awards are our chance to say thank you – and to make sure those efforts don’t go unnoticed.”
The award categories are:
- Business Contribution in the Community
- Community Group of the Year
- Community Project of the Year
- Community Spirit Award
- Environmental Award
- Outstanding Volunteer
- Trustee of the Year
- Young Person Achievement
- Lifetime Achievement
Nominations are open to anyone carrying out voluntary work in the borough and can be submitted in multiple categories.
The deadline for submitting nominations is 11.59pm Sunday 8 February 2026 and nominations can be made quickly and easily online.
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to the flagship Community Heroes Awards ceremony in late March 2026, where winners will be announced.
