Wimbledon Expansion

Greater London Authority officers have recommended approval for the All England Lawn Tennis Club plans to expand. The hearing before the Deputy Mayor of London is fixed for 27 September 2024. For further details see Post on 11 September 2024.

    That could be ‘it’ for Wimbledon expansion subject to call in by Deputy PM.

    From previous experience it appears that the LA have told the Deputy Mayor what decision to make.

  2. That was not the case when the Mayor called in the previous Stag Brewery application. He did not follow the advice of GLA officers on that occasion. The GLA now of course is opposed to the Brewery applications.

    We have no idea what the thinking of the Deputy PM is do we?

    And no doubt the Save Wimbledon campaigners have been discussing with m’learned friends the prospects for judicial review, especially in view of the difference of opinion between Merton and Wandsworth.
