Stag Brewery Public Inquiry: Day 3

On Day 3 you will hear from a number of local schools about their objections to the proposed 1200 pupil secondary school. I have seen a lot of their evidence. It makes compelling reading, ignored to date by the Council, so attend or watch the livestream if you can.

They will be followed by Tim Catchpole, Chair of MESS, and Richard White who will be giving evidence about false letters of support for the applications, filed by the developer’s agents.

    Dear Richard

Residents have always argued for a primary school because they think it will be easier to bear but the borough has needed a new secondary for over 10 years .. we have children in N Barnes who have no school within their catchment (see Rocket Science study on Barnes)

This argument is well established by the council I can send you their paper if the board is lacking the very well made argument.

Even if Brexit and Covid have created vacancies this does not resolve the need for another secondary school for Barnes and wider school community. The 1 in 4 private school attendance is a consequence of a lack of high achieving secondary schools in the borough not a reason.

Please do not move the goal posts which are very well established on this debate.
