Hammersmith Bridge Rally Revisited

The Rally at Hammersmith Bridge this Saturday now promises to be more devisive than might have been planned.

According to the Barnes Bugle today there are two separate rallies. The first at noon is for those who do not want it to reopen to cars and standard buses. The second at 2pm is for those who support reopening to bridge.

The occasion will no doubt be viewed as an influential photo opportunity. So if you turn up early there is every prospect that you will be viewed as a supporter of closure to cars.

Those in favour of reopening the Hammersmith Bridge to road traffic are also made aware of the timings through bush telegraph and WhatsApp groups.
The NIMBY’s can have their say but why bother when the bridge is already closed!

  2. I went to Hammersmith Bridge today, at 2pm. The group against the opening was still there, in force with their banners, trying to push through to be included in the group photo, very rude, loud shoutings and comments interrupting the speakers. Disregarding any polite comments asking them to be more respectful. Mostly young and going on about climate change. In the end, the police had to intervene.
