Proportional Representation?

LidDems won all 54 seats in the recent local elections for councillors in Richmond.

Noone spoken to by EastSheenMatters believes this is good for local democracy. Except some councillors.

Is this a powerful argument in favour of proportional representation?

PR yes please – but not the Lib Dem preference for STV which is not as good as it seems ( see results of General Elections in Eire where the group that won more First Preference Votes than any other only won the 4th highest number of seats in The Dail.( see Irish Times Election 2024)
My preference is for the Dutch model of straight Party List PR – OK! you don’t get to vote for a specific Councillor but frankly how many people really care.
For me it is more important to have a Council made up of representatives whose numbers reflect the poltical views of people right across the Borough on a true % basis – that IS Democracy.
