Autumn – seems like it has arrived

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

Heathrow update

Apologies to Lady Sally Hamwee and Sarah Olney MP for the confusion over their names in last night’s posting.

But it all adds to drawing local attention to the reality of plans for Heathrow.

Heathrow

In her latest weekly newsletter Sally Hamwee MP reports on her meeting with Heathrow’s Director of Carbon Strategy following the publication of the latest proposals for the construction of a third runway at the Airport.

She noted the proposal to increase their capacity for arrivals and departures from 480,000 to 756,000 flights a year. Heathrow representatives stated that noise pollution would be reduced by the introduction of new fleets, and air pollution would be limited with the move towards sustainable aviation fuel. These assertions, she writes, will not mitigate the impact of an additional 276,000 flights over London.

Our MP noted that a number of my queries regarding investment in the project, the proposed flight paths for the third runway, and the impact that surface access would have on residents around Heathrow, could not be answered.

Locally we have noted an increasing number of complaints about more and noisier early morning flights. Heathrow seems determined to ignore this issue. It cannot possibly be the case that an additional 276,000 flights will do other than increase early flights.
