Sheen Lane / URR Junction Roadworks

UKPN has managed to provide a perfect illustration of all that is wrong with the management of roadworks within days of the article in the Guardian by Simon Jenkins reproduced at Hammersmith Bridge again | EastSheenMatters

Without warning the road from the health clinic to the junction has been made one way.

There is no notice stating when the works might be completed.

On enquiry the man operating the traffic lights that have replaced the usual lights said ‘some time next week’. Probably it will reach the Borough Bulletin by tomorrow.

On the upside there were actually two men working in diggers.

But why does the closed area need to be all the way from the clinic to the junction. It lengthens the queue unnecessarily.

Response: they are working there tomorrow. So for the convenience of UKPN they block the road for an extra day at the inconvenience of local residents and delivery drivers.

The Council, which should be responsible for oversight, is as much to blame as the contractors for this unhelpful state of affairs,

Lesson for now: Avoid the area in a car.
